Going far from home doesn’t mean doing it alone
The story behind it
When I was an au pair, I also arrived with a very clear idea of what the experience would be like. And yes, there were new cities and places to discover, incredible people, a new language, and many things I had once been afraid of that I learned to do on my own.
But there was also loneliness, homesickness, friendships that began and ended very quickly, a living situation that wasn’t working, and a rematch filled with guilt, fear, and uncertainty.
Over time, I came to understand that an experience can be both beautiful and difficult at the same time.
That’s why Raíces y Alas was born: to create the kind of space I wish I had found back then. A place to share, feel understood, and remember that you don’t have to go through this stage of your life alone.
